Today the UKO Group led by Hermann Unterkofler and his son Moritz, works in a diverse portfolio of companies in the areas of real estate and project development, hospitality, vending machines, as well as sports and events.
After training in agriculture and gastronomy, Hermann Unterkofler worked in gastronomy and finally opened his own restaurant in his home town of Golling. On this occasion he came into contact with the first vending machines – and turned fascinated to this topic. Gaming machines, entertainment equipment such as table football or billiards, jukeboxes and the first electronic games such as Pacman became his new field of business from 1974. From 1987, the operation and technical support of vending and cigarette machines throughout Austria was added.

Moritz, the youngest son of Hermann Unterkofler, has been an enthusiastic motocross enthusiast since his early childhood. The weekend trips to training tracks in Italy, however, became too cumbersome for his father. So Hermann Unterkofler had an Australian professional design a cross-country track suitable for the World Championships on the slope below the Tauern motorway between Golling and Werfen. Ski legend Marcel Hirscher, Henrik Kristoffersen, Klaus Kröll, Matthias Walkner (Dakar Rally Champion) and junior motocross star Marcel Stauffer (MX2 Champion) are among the enthusiastic fans of the track. Meanwhile the XBOWL Arena has become a location where you can experience motocross sports, open air concerts and company events with the whole family.
In all these years of economic success, Hermann Unterkofler has always invested in the purchase and development of land and real estate. UKO Estate is active in the areas of project development and property management in the Salzburg area and, for some years now, also in Carinthia. With a constantly growing real estate portfolio of private apartments, commercial properties and real estate, the company today has a strong substance to develop projects in the high double-digit millions.

Father and son Moritz have realised the UKO Estate’s largest project to date on Lake Wörthersee. Perfectly positioned between Velden and Reifnitz and yet in a quiet location, the new Hermitage Vital Resort with Vital Hotel, private beach, restaurant and beach club, direct access to the 18-hole golf course and five modern villas with a total of 57 luxury apartments is located. The project was developed from the ground-breaking ceremony. Through the realisation, an entire district could be revived and a pension with 64 beds, which was in great need of renovation, was turned into a unique luxury resort on Lake Wörthersee within a construction period of only two and a half years. The main aim of the resort is to increase tourism at Lake Wörthersee 365 days a year. Currently, a wellness area with indoor and outdoor pool, which is intended to establish the resort as the most busy all-year operation on the south shore, and high investments in the hotel are planned. The broad enterprise portfolio is led by the family holding “UKO Group”, which father Hermann and son Moritz Unterkofler preside over. The group continues to invest heavily in the acquisition and development of real estate projects.
